Prayer Groups

Sligo Prayer Groups

There are two prayer meetings taking place in St Michaels Family Life Centre, Church Hill, Sligo

  • St Michael’s Adult Prayer Meeting
  • St Michael’s Youth Prayer Meeting.

The meetings originally commenced as one group in a family home in 1991. Following a “Life in the Spirit Seminar” the numbers grew and the meetings then moved into St Michael’s Family Life Centre on the first Tuesday after Easter 1994. As the numbers again continued to grow the group was divided into two groups as outlined in the previous paragraph.
The meetings have been very fruitful and many other prayer groups have grown from here. The members of both groups have joined other ministries as a result of their growth in faith at these meetings. The meetings are charismatic/contemplative by nature. An intimate union with God is sought through prayer.
The adult prayer meeting core group have formulated a vision, mission and objectives and out of the objectives have set a format for future prayer meetings. The meetings are public and are in accordance with official Catholic Church teaching.  The Adult Prayer Members meet on Tuesday evenings at 8.30pm and the Youth Prayer Members meet on Fridays at 7.30pm.

Further information on the Adult Prayer Meeting can be obtained from the Secretary of the Core Group, Ms Joan Geraghty – Tel No 071 91 43310
