Turning Our Hearts to the Lord Advent Prayer Initiative For the past three years more than 2,000 adults in twelve Irish dioceses - Elphin, Killala, Achonry, Tuam, Ardagh & Clonmacnois, Clonfert, Limerick, Kerry, Waterford & Lismore, Ossory, Armagh & Kilmore have participated in a shared Advent and Lenten Prayer initiative known as the Turning Our Hearts to the Lord initiative.
In many of the participating parishes groups gather weekly for c. 40 minutes to pray the Prayer of the Church (provided in a black booklet that has been designed for use over a number of years). They also give time to reading, pondering and discussingt the Sunday Gospel, supported by a white booklet that contains the text of the Gospel and a 200 word reflection for each week (produced for each season). A CD is also used by some groups. This includes four Advent hymns and the Magnificat and is designed so as to encourage groups to sing along. Orders are now being taken from clergy and laity involved in this intiative in the Elphin diocese. Please contact Justin Harkin or Ann Allen @ 071 9634960 / This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with your order. For most established groups this will just be the Gospel Reflections booklets which cost €1 each. |
