On Saturday 17th September 2022 The Society of the Divine Word Missionaries, in partnership with the Elphin diocese, will host a Day of Recollection in Donamon Castle.  This day is open to everyone who contributes to the Church’s mission through membership of organisations and groups such as the Legion of Mary, Apostolic Workers, Pioneer Total Abstinence Association, Knights of St. Columbanus, Cursillio Movement, St. Vincent de Paul, Marist Network, St. Joseph’s Young Priest Society, Mercy Associates, CREIDEAMH network and Elphin Diocese’s Eucharist Adoration Network.

Women and men who are not members of such organisations and networks who feel the need of such a day are also welcome.

Fr Bart Parys is a Polish Divine Word Missionary on a permanent mission in Ireland since his ordination in 2011. He has been involved since his youth in the Light-Life Movement, which is a postconciliar ecclesial movement. Ministering within the Movement is his primary mission dimension in Ireland.

11.00 am:  Tea / Coffee in The Parlour

11.15 am:  Word of Welcome & House-keeping

11.20 am:  Presentation from Fr. Bart Parys SVD

The talk will focus on the realities of lay ecclesial communities/organisations as the visible gifts of the Holy Spirit and their call in God’s plan to grow in unity for the benefit of the Church and their enrichment.
One of our primary sources of reflection and group discussion will be the letter ‘Iuvenescit Ecclesia’ published in 2016 by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, which speaks about ecclesial groups and their role in building up the Church.

12 noon:  Facilitated Group discussion linking participants experience
                   of mission with Fr. Bart’s presentation.

1 pm:      Lunch (participants are requested to bring a pack lunch)
                  followed by time, weather permitting to take a walk in the grounds
                  of Donamon Castle.

2 pm:       Time of Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament
                  and opportunity to avail of Sacrament of Reconciliation

2.45 pm:  Preparation for Celebration of the Holy Eucharist

3 pm:        Celebration of the Holy Eucharist

03.45 pm: Word of Appreciation

4 pm:        Tea / Coffee for those who wish to avail.

The recommended donation per person is €5.00, placed in a donation box on the day. Those who find this expensive are strongly encouraged to give less.
